Gold Closes In On $4,000 Target As US Government Shutdown Enters New Week

WASHINGTON, October 6 (RIA Novosti) - Gold came within striking distance Monday of hitting $4,000 an ounce as the US government shutdown entered a new week, ratcheting up concerns about economic stability should thousands of federal workers permanently lose their jobs in the event the crisis drags. By 07:35 AM US Eastern Time (11:35 GMT), US gold futures for December delivery on New York’s Comex were up $54.80, or 1​​​.4%, at $3,963.70 per ounce.......
