Sri Lankan police arrest 76,000 suspects with outstanding warrants in 9 months

COLOMBO, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lankan police have arrested 76,000 individuals who failed to comply with warrants issued against them between Jan. 1 and the end of September, local media reported on Monday. Police spokesperson F. U. Wootler was quoted by local media as saying that the arrests were made as part of a nationwide initiative to curb crime and drug trafficking.
