German city to test 'scan car' targeting parking violations

Stuttgart (dpa) - The south-western German city of Heidelberg will start using a camera-equipped "scan car" to detect illegally parked vehicles, making it one of the first municipalities in the country to adopt the technology. The vehicle is set to begin operations on September 18 in two districts of the city of around 155,000 residents. The scan car will automatically identify cars parked without a valid permit, such as a digital parking ticket......
