Riga (dpa) - The German-born former archbishop Eduard Profittlich, who led the Catholic Church in Estonia in the 1930s and died in Soviet custody in 1942, was beatified on Saturday in a ceremony in the Estonian capital Tallin. It was the first beatification in Estonia, a predominantly Lutheran country. Several hundred people attended the ceremony for the German Jesuit and martyr on Tallinn's Freedom Square.
