Southern Italy faces intense heatwave as temperatures near historic highs

ROME, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Southern Italy is bracing for what could be the hottest weather of the year, with temperatures forecast to reach extreme levels in the coming days, raising concerns over power grid stability, wildfire risk, and public health. The island of Sicily could see temperatures soar to 45 degrees Celsius this week, according to data released by Italian meteorological service Il Meteo on Monday.
