Germany's fertility rate drops to 1.35 children per woman: report

BERLIN, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Germany's fertility rate fell by 2 percent in 2024 to an average of 1.35 children per woman, according to the latest report released Thursday by the Federal Statistical Office. Last year, a total of 677,117 children were born in Germany, representing a decrease of 15,872. While the drop remains significant, it is less steep than in the two years prior, when birth rates fell by 8 percent in 2022 and 7 percent in 2023......
