Man arrested with unlicensed firearms at Kasikili village

KATIMA MULILO, 30 JUN (NAMPA) – The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) at Impalila Island in the Zambezi Region have arrested a man who was found in possession of two unlicensed firearms and several live rounds of ammunition at Kasikili village.
According to the Zambezi Regional Commander, Commissioner Andreas Shilelo, the 33-year-old suspect was arrested around 02h00 on Saturday after an intelligence tip-off.
The two firearms have been identified as a 2.2 hunting rifle and a shotgun with several live rounds.
“It is alleged that the suspect was found in possession of two unlicensed firearms and ammunition, a 2.2 hunting rifle, a shotgun, 15 live shotgun rounds, 7 2.2 live rounds and 30.06 live rounds,” stated Shilelo.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Katima Mulilo District Court this week. Police investigations into the matter continue.
