LOS ANGELES, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Southern California is bracing for a rare heat wave this weekend, with the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) forecasting the highest temperatures of the year from Friday through Sunday. A heat advisory has been issued for large parts of the region, including the Los Angeles and Ventura County valleys, the Santa Monica Mountains, and the southern Salinas Valley.
