Unknown suspect allegedly steals pistol from logde room

OSHAKATI, 10 APR (NAMPA) - The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Oshana Region on Tuesday opened a case of negligent loss of a firearm against a 34-year-old man.
NamPol Oshana Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Frederick Ndjadila, said the victim lost his firearm at around 04h00 at Airport View Lodge in Ondangwa.
“An unknown suspect stole the pistol from a table drawer in the guest room that was left unlocked while the complainant went to bath,” he said.
He added that the stolen pistol is valued at N.dollars 14 000.
Ndjadila indicated that there are no CCTV cameras at the lodge, making it challenging to identify the suspect.
In an unrelated matter, the police at Ondangwa are yet to arrest a known suspect wanted in a case of fraud of funds amounting to N.dollars 88 000.
Ndjadila said the incident, which occurred last week Wednesday at around 04h00, was only reported to the police on Wednesday.
He indicated that the suspect allegedly transferred money from the victim's bank account using unknown methods.
“The suspect in this case is known but has not yet been arrested, pending investigation,” he said.
In Omusati, the police are yet to arrest a known suspect who allegedly molested an 8-year-old boy in Olukulo village of the Tsandi Constituency.
Omusati NamPol Commander, Commissioner Ismael Basson, said the molestation occurred on three different occasions at unknown dates in February, but was only reported to the police on Wednesday.
He added that the matter was reported to the police by the victim's 44-year-old biological mother.
Investigations into the two matters continue.
