OSHAKATI, 11 MAR (NAMPA) - The police in the Oshana Region are seeking public assistance in tracing a woman suspected of killing and dumping her baby in Ongwediva.
Chief Inspector Thomas Aiyambo of the Namibian Police Force’s Community Policing Sub-division in Oshana said the baby girl’s remains were found in a municipal dustbin near the self-catering apartments in Jackson Kakwambi Street around 13h33 on Sunday.
The remains were discovered by learners from Gabriel Taapopi Secondary School who were passing by.
“A man who was standing nearby overheard them talking about a dead baby. He moved closer and the learners showed him the baby’s body, which was in a decomposed state. Her mouth and nose were sealed with sellotape,” Aiyambo said.
Police investigations continue.
