WINDHOEK, 18 FEB (NAMPA)- Executive Chairperson of the National Youth Service, Beverly Silas-!Garas has urged Namibian youth to honour the legacy of the late Founding President, Sam Nujoma, by fighting tribalism, regionalism and racism and by upholding the principles of unity, respect and servitude.
Silas-!Garas, in her tribute to Nujoma Monday evening, reiterated that his vision was never one of division but of a united Namibia, where all people, regardless of tribe, region or background, could thrive together.
“Dr Nujoma was not only a statesman, but also a champion of youth empowerment. His contributions to the youth development agenda in Namibia are undeniable. Through his leadership, policies were enacted to promote education, leadership and national service, leading to the establishment of institutions such as the National Youth Council and the National Youth Service. His belief in the power of young people was evident in his continuous advocacy for skills development, economic empowerment and nation-building,” Silas-!Garas said.
She said Nujoma’s legacy should not merely be remembered, but actively lived.
