WINDHOEK, 15 FEB (NAMPA) - A 38-year-old Angolan national was arrested in Windhoek on Friday after it was determined that he was the alleged owner of a parcel containing Ecstasy worth N.dollars 294 240.
The parcel was shipped to Namibia from Europe in November of last year.
According to Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, European authorities alerted Namibian officials of the parcel through Interpol in December last year.
“An investigation was launched and the parcel was detected at a local courier company. The receiver was traced, who informed the authority that the parcel belonged to someone known,” Shikwambi explained.
A controlled delivery was conducted on Friday afternoon, leading to the suspect being apprehended.
He is charged with contravening Act 41/71 section 2(C), dealing with drugs, and is expected to appear in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
