ETUNDA, 09 FEB (NAMPA) – Julia Iiyambo, younger sister to the late Founding President Sam Nujoma, has asked the Namibian nation to be comforted by the memories of her brother.
The 75-year-old Iiyambo told Nampa on Sunday at Nujoma’s residence at Etunda that the passing of her brother not only affected the Nujoma family, but the entire nation.
Iiyambo said she will always remember her brother as a selfless person who put the interests of the people first when it came to serving the Namibian people.
“We will remember him for all the work he has done for the Namibian people and the love he showed to everyone,” she said.
Meanwhile, Former City Police Chief Abraham Kanime indicated that they are mourning a liberation revolutionary who fought to liberate Namibians from the oppressors.
“We are mourning a leader that brought independence to the Namibian people, a true liberation icon, and a true hero of all,” he said.
Nujoma passed away Saturday night in Windhoek.
