Man arrested for alleged possession of crocodile skin

NKURENKURU, 13 JAN (NAMPA) - A 63-year-old man was arrested at the Mururani checkpoint in the Kavango West Region on Sunday after he was allegedly found in possession of a dry crocodile skin.
According to Deputy Commissioner Elsavador Ndeunyema of the Namibian Police Force in Kavango West, the incident occurred around 10h00 during a routine stop and search conducted by Ministry of Environment officials.
The suspect will appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of contravening the Controlled Wildlife Products Act.
The police also reported the arrest of a 41-year-old man in connection with a break-in at a bar in Ncuncuni village on Sunday.
Ndeunyema said the incident occurred around 03h00 when the suspect and an accomplice allegedly damaged the burglar bars on a window to enter the bar.
The two suspects were allegedly caught in the act while inside the bar, but one managed to escape.
Various items valued at N.dollars 9 699 were recovered by the police.
