NKURENKURU, 11 DEC (NAMPA)- The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Kavango West Region on Wednesday promoted 42 members, ranging from two senior inspectors and two inspectors to warrant officers and sergeants.

Of the 42 members promoted, 32 are male and 10 are female.

NamPol’s Kavango West Commander, Julia Sakuwa-Neo, said that 81 members were recommended for promotion, but only 63 were promoted. This includes 21 members who received their promotions in November 2024 at the official opening of the Ncamagoro Police Station and the 42 members promoted on this occasion.

According to Sakuwa-Neo, the promotion of police officers is a recognition of their hard work.

“Therefore, a promotion should not be seen as a mere decoration, or just a reward to an officer, but it comes with huge responsibilities over their shoulders; it calls for more sacrifices, including a high level of accountability, commitment, and honesty in upholding the rule of law,” said Sakuwa-Neo.

She expressed hope for similar promotions in the future, provided that officers maintain exemplary behaviour and perform their duties professionally and diligently.

“It is expected of all promoted members to always perform your duties to the best of your ability and to account to the laws, authorities, and people of this land at all times. One should always maintain a high level of professionalism, to be assets, but not liabilities to the organisation,” said Sakuwa-Neo.

Sakuwa-Neo further urged police officers to refrain from certain behaviours and to lead by example in all that they do.
Nearly 260 police members were promoted during the 2023/2024 financial year.
