WINDHOEK, 09 DEC (NAMPA) – China’s Ambassador to Namibia, Zhao Weiping, has said the Chinese Embassy will do more to facilitate sports exchanges between Namibia and China.
He was speaking at the 2024 Chinese Ambassador Table Tennis Friendship Cup, organised by the Namibia Table Tennis Association (NTTA) and the Confucius Institute, here on Saturday.
“I will follow in the footsteps of my predecessors, previous Chinese ambassadors, and work towards building an even closer partnership with the Namibia Table Tennis Association. Let’s work together to make this table tennis friendship cup an annual event,” said Zhao.
The ambassador said sport knows no borders and plays an important role in promoting friendship among nations.
“The Chinese embassy will do more to facilitate sports exchanges between the two countries, and we are very proud of sponsoring today’s tennis games,” Zhao stated.
Earlier this year the embassy, in collaboration with a local Chinese company, sponsored the Namibia School Sports Union’s football team’s participation in the International School Sport Federation Football World Cup 2024 in Dalian, China.
The one-day table tennis event on Saturday featured junior and senior players competing in singles, doubles, and mixed categories.
