NKURENKURU, 27 NOV (NAMPA) - Residents of Nkurenkuru queued up as early as 05h00 on Wednesday to take part in the Presidential and National Assembly Elections.
Large number of voters could be spotted at the Nkurenkuru Community Hall and at the Nkurenkuru Combined School, where Kavango West Governor Sirkka Ausiku was also expected to cast her vote.
Kalume Ndeshipanda, 32, was the first person to cast her vote at Nkurenkuru Combined School.
“I came here around past 05h00 this morning,” Ndeshipanda said.
She said it is her first time voting since she was hospitalised during previous elections.
Ndeshipanda noted that she was determined to vote this year even though she is not feeling well.
Meanwhile 78-year-old Erna Sikongo said she was ready to cast her vote and was at the polling station at 06h00.
Priscilla Mugomba said she is voting because she wants her voice to be heard.
“I also want to bring about change because in the end there will be no point in me saying the government is not doing anything if I did not vote,” the 28-year-old Mugomba said.
The Kavango West Region has 175 polling stations and 47 200 eligible voters who are expected to cast their votes on Wednesday.
