Father faces murder charge after five-month-old baby's death

WINDHOEK, 28 OCT (NAMPA) – A five-month-old boy on Saturday allegedly succumbed to a head injury sustained when he was hit by a stone thrown by his father at Nkandi village in the Kavango West Region three months ago.
“It is alleged that the minor was hit by a stone thrown by his father which was intended to hit the baby’s mother during a domestic violence dispute three months ago,” a crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force said.
The baby was taken to Nankudu Hospital and later transferred to Windhoek for further medical treatment after it was discovered that he had sustained a skull fracture.
After being discharged, he underwent follow-up appointments at Nankudu Hospital, where his last check-up was on 11 October 2024.
The report noted that the minor succumbed to the head injury at his mother's house.
A case of murder read with the provisions of the Domestic Violence Act has been opened against the minor's father, a 33-year-old man who is in police custody at Nkurenkuru.
