Skinning of whale starts at Mile 4

SWAKOPMUND, 30 NOV (NAMPA) - The process of preserving the skeleton of the Bryde’s Whale which washed up dead at Mile 4 in Swakopmund last week, started on Thursday.
It commenced with the removal of the meat from the skeleton.
The whale is about 15 metres in length and weigh between 16 and 17 tonnes.
Officials from the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources, together with some members of the Namibian Dolphin Project, started the skinning, which is expected to take more than two days.< ...
