NEW YORK, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Friday. The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, dropped 0.13 percent to 97.796 at 3 p.m. (2000 GMT). In late New York trading, the euro advanced to 1.178 dollars from 1.1763 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.3491 dollars from 1.3451 dollars in the previous session.
