UPDATE: First case of listeriosis reported in Tsumeb
Written by Natasha Diergaardt on 13 March 2018.Minister of Health and Social Services, Bernard Haufiku informed Parliamentarians Tuesday that a 47-year-old man contracted Listeriosis in Tsumeb.
The patient is now receiving treatment at the Roman Catholic Hospital in Windhoek.
He is in a stable but serious condition.
“We have already lost nine lives to Hepatitis E and we cannot afford to lose more,” said Haufiku.
Listeriosis is a type of food poisoning caused by eating foods contaminated with Listeria bacteria and can be dangerous for certain people.
