The Zambia News Agency was born in 1969 out of a need to have development activities taking place around the country reflected to the Zambian Public. The organisation was to service the local media as subscribers and fill in the gap left by the commercially-inclined and urban concentrated media.

The agency is the only mainstream media organisation providing the widest possible professional news coverage through a well trained cadre of journalists stationed in regional and district offices. The majority of these regional offices are in rural Zambia where 70 per cent of the country's population is concentrated.

Guided by nothing else but professionalism, ZANA provides credible news to the Zambian public through its clients who include the national radio and television station, the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation; the Times of Zambia and the Zambia Daily Mail.

ZANA also reflects the world to Zambians through its long-standing relationships with world news agencies like Reuters; Xinhua (New China News Agency); and the DPA (German News Agency): and the continental agency PANAPRESS.

We provide news and in-depth articles from an African perspective to the Zambian public abroad and the international community by Internet and through PANAPRESS, which has established offices in the USA and Europe. The agency also co-operates with the Southern African regional news agencies like the Mozambican News Agency (AIM) and the Southern African Broadcasting Association (SABA).

The headquarters of the agency is in Lusaka while regional offices are at Kabwe (Central Province): Ndola (Copperbelt Province): Mansa (Luapula Province): Kasama (Northern Province): Chipata (Eastern Province); Livingstone (Southern Province); Mongu (Western Province) and Solwezi (North-Western Province)

Our Web-Site, through various links shows the prominent features in these regions in which our reporters carry out their reporting activities in such fields as tourism, business, science and technology, agriculture, sport, environment, culture and gender.

With modern Information Communication Technology, ZANA is capable of packaging quality client-tailored articles on any subject in English and provides information on past events in its archives."
